Information for this project has been supplied by the relevant regimental museums and archives, the National Archives, regimental and unit histories, a variety of Internet based resources and a large number of personal contacts.

Stockport's Local Heritage Library has, of course, been of immense assistance. The Library contains an archive of newspaper obituaries of many of the men which often include photographs. Also of particular assistance, have been the following websites:

Commonwealth War Graves Commission

National Archives - at Kew in Surrey. The place to visit to view original documents such as a battalion's war diary

The Long, Long Trail and its associated Great War Forum

Carl's Cam (family history website with photographs of the memorials and a list of names of each)

Previous research into the men commemoratedn on specific war memorials in the Borough is also acknowledged - "Hazel Grove to Armageddon" by John Eaton; "Remembered" by Peter Clarke, Andy Cook and Jon Bintliff (the High Lane and Marple memorials) and my original - Cheadle & Gatley War Memorials website (Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Gatley & Long Lane).

And finally, a very big "thank you", to the web wizards of Ihelm Enterprises. Arianna and Michael, at this small local company, have redesigned the website and now manage all the technical side for me. It allows me to concentrate on researching the men and telling their stories.
