William GREEN
Rank: Private
Number: 101297
Unit: 1/6th Battalion King’s (Liverpool) Regiment
Date of Death: 8 September 1918
Age: 19
Cemetery: Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, Pas de Calais, France

William was the son of Philip and Catherine Green who, in 1901, lived at 22 Great Egerton Street, Stockport (and later at No. 63).

William's service number is not an early one and he will, no doubt, have been conscripted into the army when he became 18. At that time, he was working locally for William Nelstrop & Co, flour millers, at the Company's Albion Mill on Lancashire Hill, Heaton Norris.

He died in a military hospital from pneumonia and the effects of gas poisoning.
