Norman F B HOLLIDAY
Rank: Corporal
Number: 265633
Unit: 1/6th Battalion CHESHIRE REGIMENT
Date of Death: 31 July 1917
Age: 23
Cemetery: Menin Gate Memorial, Ieper, Belgium

The army records that Norman had been born in Brixton, London. An examination of the 1901 Census lists only one likely person. This boy, aged 7, had moved north and was living in Chorley.

Presumably, his family must have moved to Stockport at some point as he is recorded as enlisting there. His original service number, 2383, suggests he was a pre-war member of the Territorials and would have been mobilised in August 1914 when war was declared.
