The Stockport War Memorial carries two inscriptions of the name S Jackson. Similarly, Regimental records only indicate two men named S Jackson died during the war serving with the Regiment. One is positively identified as Stuart Jackson. The other man is Samuel Jackson, who was born in Ashton-under -Lyne and enlisted nearby at Hyde. However, no other information has come to light which would confirm that he had a Stockport connection and is the second man on the memorial.
