Harold was the youngest son of Oswald and Ellen Jackson 14 Brinksway Stockport. Oswald was a dairyman and had run his business from Brinksway for many years. The 1901 Census records his other children as Sarah (then 17), Frank (14), Herbery (11) and Hilda (5).

Harold enlisted into the army on 10 August 1914, less than week after War was declared. He died whilst at a military hospital on the Channel coast from shrapnel wounds from a bursting artillery shell. It's not known when he was injured.
