Walter LALLY
Rank: Private
Number: 10260
Unit: 1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment
Date of Death: 17 November 1914
Cemetery: Menin Gate Memorial, Ieper, Belgium

Nothing is known about Walter Lally's life other than Regimental records indicate he was born in Stockport and was living in the town when War was declared in August 1914. To have been serving with the 1st Battalion at this early stage of the War, means he must have been a regular soldier at one stage. The fact that he was living in Stockport suggest that he had left the army but was still a reservist and was recalled to Birkenhead to rejoin.

He was killed during a tour of duty in the front line described here.
