John LAVELLE
Rank: Lance Corporal
Number: 16926
Unit: 11th Battalion Cheshire Regiment
Date of Death: 3 July 1916
Age: 39
Cemetery: Lonsdale Cemetery, Authille, France

Nothing is known for certain about John Lavelle's background other than he had been born in the parish of St Mary's C of E Church, Stockport and enlisted into the army in the town in September 1914. He is, however, probably the man of the same name, listed on the 1901 Census as living in Stockport, aged 24, and working as a brass finisher.

John was killed on the third day of the Battle of the Somme. He has no known grave.
