Horatio PALFREYMAN
Rank: Private
Number: 18419
Unit: CHESHIRE Regiment
Date of Death: 1 November 1918
Age: 33
Cemetery: Willow Grove Cemetery, Stockport

The family history website, FreeBMD, suggests Horatio's birth was registered at Stockport between July and September 1885. At the time of the 1901 Census, he was 15 and working as an office boy.

Horatio's service number indicates he volunteered for the army in November of December 1914. The National Archives on-line "medal entitlement" database records Horatio which confirms that he must have seen overseas service. However, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission does not record which Battalion Horatio was attached to. Whilst this may be a simple recording error, it is more likely that he had been wounded early in the war and had returned home. His wounds will have been  of such consequence that he was unable to return to duty and was discharged back into civilian life.
