Rank: Private
Number: 266669
Unit: 12th Battalion CHESHIRE Regiment
Date of Death: 18 September 1918
Age: 21
Cemetery: Doiran Memorial, Greece

Harry had been born in Stockport, the son of John and Frances, 1 Joseph Street. The 1901 Census records that John, then aged 41, worked as a "felt hat blocker" and Frances was aged 32. At the time, Harry had two sisters; Lucy, 5 and Annie,1.

His original service number, 4339, suggests he originally enlisted in the local Territorial Battalion, the 6th Cheshires, probably in the spring of 1915. He must have still been with them at the beginning of 1917, when he was re-allocated the above six-digit number. At some later point, he would have been transferred to the 12th Battalion. He was killed at the Battle of Doiran and has no known grave.
