Unit: 22nd Battalion MANCHESTER REGIMENT
Date of Death: 5 July 1918

Nothing is known of Harry's life except that Regimental records published after the War indicate he had been born in Shrewsbury and was living in Heaton Mersey when he enlisted into the army at Manchester. He was an original member of the 22nd Battalion (the seventh of the City's "Pals" Battalions). Recruitment for the Battalion started on 21 November 1914 and Harry will have joined shortly afterwards. He was assigned to the 11th Platoon, "C" Company.

The 22nd Manchesters saw action during the Battle of the Somme in the summer and autumn of 1916 and, the following year, at Arras and Ypres. In October 1917, they were transferred to the Italian front where they faced the forces of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.

Harry died, of natural causes, whilst in a military hospital at Genoa. No further details are known.
