Thomas Thomason and Hannah Jane Lowe married in the early part of 1889. When the Census was taken in 1901, the couple were living in four rooms at 8 Lyme Street, Heaton Mersey. They now had seven children - James (then 12), William (10), Arthur (7), Elsie (6), Thomas (5), Fred (3) and Jane (1).

Thomas enlisted at Stockport into one of the newly created "Service Battalions". His service number suggests this was as a conscript towards the end of 1916. On 10 August, he was part of an important minor attack on German positions, described here. After the attack, he was posted as "missing". It was not until 12 months later, that the War Office made an official presumption that he must have been killed. Thomas has no known grave.
