Frank TURNER
Rank: Rifleman
Number: R/49950
Unit: 9th Battalion KINGS ROYAL RIFLE CORPS
Date of Death: 17 February 1919
Age:
Cemetery: Stockport Borough Cemetery

Nothing is known about Frank, although his burial at Stockport and his commemoration on the War Memorial at Stockport Art Gallery probably confirm that he lived in the town.

Military records published after the War indicate that, when he originally joined up, he was assigned to the Hampshire Regiment. His medal entitlement records, at the National Archives, confirm that he served abroad with the Regiment before being transferred to the Rifle Corps. He is known to have been wounded in action at some point and had been evacuated home. It is not known when he was injured but the wounds were his eventual cause of death.
