James WARWICK
Rank: Lance Sergeant
Number: 32883
Unit: 10th Battalion Cheshire Regiment
Date of Death: 13th November 1917
Age: 22
Cemetery: Gorre British & Indian Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France

James' parents, Robert and Clara, lived at 130 Great Portwood Street, Stockport. Neither of them originated frrm the town. The 1901 Census shows that Clara, then aged 41, had been born in Ludlow, Shropshire. Robert, 42, came from Cliburn in Westmoreland (now part of Cumbria) and was working as a joiner.

A 34 year old woman, Mary Warwick, also from Cliburn was probably James' aunt. James is listed on the Census, aged 5, as is his younger brother, John, then only 7 months old. Both had been born in Stockport.

James' service number suggests that he enlisted in early 1916 and he was reported to have been killed by a shell.
