John WILLIAMSON
Rank: Private
Number: 52487
Unit: 13th Battalion CHESHIRE Regiment
Date of Death: 10 August 1917
Age: 20
Cemetery: Hooge Crater Cemetery, Ieper, Belgium

John was born in the parish of St Matthew's C of E Church, Grenville Street, Stockport. He was the son of William Williamson, 64 Booth Street, Edgeley.

John enlisted in Stockport, probably during 1916. He was killed during an attack described here. He will have been originally buried very close to where he died. After the war, these very small burial areas were closed as the land was returned to civilian use. The bodies were re-interred in "concentration" cemeteries, such as Hooge Crater.
