William Hollingworth WORRALL
Rank: Company Sergeant Major
Number: 3359
Unit: Depot MANCHESTER REGIMENT
Date of Death: 21 January 1916
Age: 56
Cemetery: Willow Grove Cemetery, Stockport

William never served abroad during the War and his death was due to natural causes. He had been born in the Hulme area of Manchester. In the late spring of 1881, he married Mary Broadhurst in the Prestwich area.

By the time of the Great War, they were living in New Mills, probably at 106 Buxton Road, where Mary was known to be living in the early 1920s. William's service number indicates that he had joined one of the Territorial Battalions of the Regiment, probably in the early part of 1915. His age will have meant that he wouldn't normally have been considered for overseas service so will have been based at one of the depots in the Manchester area, where he may have undertook administrative duties.
