Thomas BROOKS
Rank: Private
Number: 11317
Unit: C Company, 8th Battalion CHESHIRE REGIMENT
Date of Death: 18 July 1921
Age: 28
Cemetery: Stockport Borough Cemetery

Thomas was born in Stockport, the son of George and Louisa Brook, 67 Bann Street. He volunteered for the army in August 1914 - just after war was declared.

Lack of funding for this research project has meant that it has not been possible to obtain a copy of Thomas' death certificate. As such it is not known if he died of the result of wounds he had received whilst serving in the army or if he died from an illness. He is commemorated on the Commonwealth war Graves Commission's Debt of Honour Register. This is confirmation that the military authorities accepted that his death was war-related.
