James lived with his father, also called James Henry and his mother, Caroline, at 18 Platt Street, Cheadle

1918 saw a world wide epidemic of influenza from which millions died. It is probable that James caught the flu and it developed into the pneumonia from which he died. He will have been conscripted when he became 18 and was still in training in the UK when he died.
