Arthur Cooper's name appears on the Hazel Grove War Memorial. All attempts to positively identify him have failed. He is possibly a young boy listed on the 1901 census called George Arthur Cooper. He was then just 18 months old and had been born in Hazel Grove, but was then living at 26 Victory Street in the Portwood area of Stockport. His parents were John and Lillian (who came from Bramhall).

None of the many men with appropriate initials listed by the Commonwelath War Graves Commission have any obvious connection with the Hazel Grove area and, unless further information comes to light, Arthur Cooper will remain a mystery.
