Harry had been born in Reddish and lived all of his life there until he enlisted into the army on 2 March 1916.

He was the son of the late J and Mrs Cooper, 1 Stanhope Street and he worked at Broadstone No. 1 Mill. Harry had worshipped at the Reddish Green Wesleyan Church and, as a boy, had received some education at its Sunday School.

He was killed in fighting described here.
