George Thomas DEAN
Rank: Private
Number: 3805
Unit: 1/6th Battalion CHESHIRE REGIMENT
Date of Death: 2 February 1917
Age: 31
Cemetery: Stockport Borough Cemetery

George probably experienced pain and discomfort, from his wounds, for the last several months of his life. He was reported to have been shot in July 1916 and, after treatment in France, was brought back to Britain and still a patient at King George's Hospital, Lambeth, when he died.

He was married to Annie who. in the early 1920s, was living at 49 Lord Street, Gorton, Manchester. It has not been possible to establish firm details of his early life, but the 1901 Census lists a boy of the right age and name. This boy, then aged 14 had been born in Stockport and was living there still. He was working as a cotton operative.
