Samuel FINDLOW
Rank: Private
Number: 13061
Unit: 1/6th Battalion CHESHIRE REGIMENT
Date of Death: 3 November 1918
Age: 27
Cemetery: Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, Boulogne, France

Samuel had been born in Salford, the son of Samuel and Sarah Jane. The 1901 Census shows him "at school" in Withington, Manchester. As an adult, he had moved to 14 Hurst Street, Reddish, where he lived with his wife, Jane.

His service number strongly suggests that he was originally a member of the 11th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment. When this Battalion was disbanded in June 1918, he would have been transferred to the 1/6th.

He is reported to have died of an unspecified "disease" in hospital. He was probably a victim of the worldwide influenza epidemic of 1918.
