Arthur James GAMBLE
Rank: Private
Number: 8964
Unit: 2nd Battalion CHESHIRE REGIMENT
Date of Death: 3 October 1915
Age: 22
Cemetery: Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France

Arthur was born in Heaton Norris. His parents, James and Margaret, lived at 2 Pearson Street in the Sandy lane area of Stockport. He was killed at the Battle of Loos whilst serving with the 2nd Cheshires. This was one of the Regiment's two regular army battalions and Arthur's service number suggest he might have been a regular soldier (although by the time he as killed, the Battalion had many new recruits who were not regulars).
